Christmas tree decorations often follow a main theme. It can run from being done in one color, one particular type of item, or a variety of a mixture of things. The choices are many depending on a person's taste.

Ribbons can stream from the top of the tree down to the lower branches or swirl from branch to branch. Sparkling colored garland can also be swirled in a spiraling manner from the top down to the bottom of the tree.

Christmas lights are fashioned today in many styles and colors. There are twinklers and lights that do not blink but stay on in a steady glow. There are running lights that chase each other through a clear tube. One can apply any of these styles to the tree, although the chasing lights need a large Christmas tree to be effective.

Decorating the Christmas tree can be a fun time for the family. Dad sets the tree up and puts the lights on it. Mom puts some holiday music on the stereo while the children excitedly search the goodies for a favorite ornament.

The tree stand can also be wrapped with a white sheet or other white article of fabric to mimic a 'snowfall.' A Christmas time scene can be laid out on this 'snowfall' to complete the whole theme of the Christmas season.
